Signal flow answers one question:

Where does the audio go next?

For troubleshooting, follow the signal in order rather than changing unrelated controls.

Typical microphone path

Microphone

Preamp / processing

Channel fader

Gain is not the same as fader level

Preamp gain sets the input level entering the console's processing path.

A channel fader controls how much of that processed signal is sent onward in the selected mix.

A soft online mix therefore should not automatically be "fixed" by increasing preamp gain. Gain changes can affect multiple destinations.

House and broadcast are intentionally separate

The system is designed so the video team can adjust the stream mix on Bus 7/8 without changing the sanctuary mix.

That separation is one of the most important concepts in the installed system.
